Changes to appointment booking
From Monday 13th April 2026 we are making changes in the way you will be able to make a GP appointment.
From this date, one of our doctors will triage all appointment requests through the eConsult system, and advise you accordingly.
This could triaged to be a same day face-to-face appointment, or a routine appointment within the week etc. This could aslo be a telephone consultation with a GP or Nurse Practitioner. It could be triaged without further need for an appointment and a prescription sent to your nominated pharmacy for you. It could be navigated to another Health Care Professional such as our physiotherapist, podiatrist, midwife or practice nurse etc. It could even be triaged to a referral to another provider such as a community pharmacist for minor ailments. The information you provide assists the doctor to make this clinical decision.
The earlier in the day that you submit your eConsult request, the greater the chance of getting a same day response.
eConsult can be submitted via the NHS app - Just go to the services section and click on contact your GP about a health problem. An econsult can be submitted from the home screen of our website and where you are not digitally enabled we can transfer the information for you by telephone or if you come into the surgery on a paper form.
In line with the new GP Contract - if the doctor determines your need to be urgent then we will respond on the same day and arrange an appointment on the same day. Please ensure your telephone number is up to date.
If you are unable to access the internet or if eConsult is not available, then please telephone the practice, one of our receptionists will complete an eConsult on your behalf ONLY if internet is not available.
Alternatively, you can come to the practice during our normal opening hours and complete a form by hand, this will be added to the eConsult system by a receptionist for the doctor to triage
If, after triaging your eConsult, one of our GPs feel that an appointment needs to be arranged then we one of our team will contact you directly to book or we will send you an electronic booking link for you to make this appointment yourself.
Booking links are great – they let you see all the available dates and times and you can choose the one that works best for you. They’re really easy to use and even remain valid for 7 days from being sent – so if you don’t see something suitable when you first look if you wait until another day you will see if other appointments have opened up.
The new triage system will not impact on the existing pre-bookable non-urgent appointments that we offer
We would like to thank you in advance for being patient with our staff during this transitional period

Mounjaro (weight loss injections) Update for patients
Thinking about Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injections for weight loss?
Heard you can now get them from the NHS?
The ICB (Integrated Care Board) have been tasked by NHS England with providing these in GP practices by 23rd June.
But…
Only for very specific groups of patients with a number of particular health conditions - estimated to only be a handful of patients in each practice.
And…
The details of how GPs will be able to provide these injections have still not been agreed.
So…
Please don’t make an appointment about Mounjaro yet - we are very likely to have to disappoint.
Also…
Even when details of how GPs can provide Mounjaro have been agreed, we will need to arrange training and set up clinics, which will take time.
We want to help as many patients as we can, but are limited by the plans of the ICB based on NHS England requirements.
Summary:
Please help us to help you - we will tell you as soon as we can help you with Mounjaro, so please don’t make appointments about this right now.
Pharmacy First
The Pharmacy First service enables members of the public to visit pharmacies, as a first port of call, for help with a range of common minor conditions.
The service enables pharmacists to offer advice to patients and supply NHS medicines, where clinically appropriate, for:
- Sinusitis – for children and adults aged 12 years and over;
- Sore throat – for children and adults aged 5 years and over;
- Earache (Acute otitis media) – for children aged 1 to 17 years;
- Infected insect bite – for children and adults aged 1 year and over;
- Impetigo – for children and adults aged 1 year and over;
- Shingles – for adults aged 18 years and over; and
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women aged 16 to 64 years.
It is hoped that the service will be expanded to include more conditions in the future.
In the consultations with a pharmacist, people with symptoms suggestive of the seven conditions will be provided with advice and be supplied, where clinically necessary, with a prescription-only treatment under a Patient Group Direction (PGD) or a pharmacy only medicine.
If the pharmacy team cannot help with the condition the patient is presenting with, they will be referred to the appropriate healthcare access point, such as a GP surgery or A&E.
In addition to this, patients can continue to be able to access emergency prescription medicines or consultations on other minor conditions where they have been referred to the pharmacy by NHS 111, their GP surgery or other settings.
The Pharmacy First service is an optional service, but over 95% of pharmacies have signed up to offer it.
